Blog #10: Finding an Apartment

Introduction

Over the weekend my parents were in town and we decided to take a drive to Caldwell to see Silverhawk and look for a place for me to live when I start flight school in September. Today’s blog will talk about our trip to Caldwell and finding housing.


Looking in Caldwell

After a half hour of driving to Caldwell from Garden City, we visited Silverhawk Aviation Academy. After looking at the school we drove around town, but we did not see a lot of apartment complexes, so we ultimately decided to drive to Nampa to see how far it would be from Silverhawk.


Farmstead Apartments

Just three miles down the road from Silverhawk Aviation we found the Farmstead Apartments located on Cherry Lane in Nampa. These apartments are really nice and have just been built in the last couple of years. When we got to the apartments we went on a tour with their lease manager and she told us a lot of good information about the apartments and the amenities they offer. I am looking at moving into one of these apartments in September.


Conclusion

This weekend was exciting for me because I realized that September is not very far away and it will be here before I know it. I am really excited to potentially live in these apartments and go to flight school.

Blog #1: The Beginning Steps of a Dream Career

Blog #2: Ascend Pilot Academy

  Introduction In the next several blogs I will be going in-depth and talking about a particular flight school I am considering applying to in April. I am going to be sharing information on the flight school and the requirements it takes to be accepted and apply to the school. The flight school I will be going over to today is Ascend Pilot Academy. Ascend Pilot Academy is a flight school through Alaska and Horizon Airlines. Location and Costs Ascend Pilot Academy has two locations. Hillsboro and Redmond Oregon. Each location provides housing. The housing cost at Redmond is $770 a month and at the Hillsboro location, the housing cost is $1,300. The cost of training will be between $65,000 to $80,000. After you are done getting all of your ratings you can earn a stipend of up to $25,000 to be a flight instructor while you are earning your in-flight hours.
